Discover the pristine beauty of northern Costa Rica's hidden gem
Home to magnificent herons and diverse wildlife in an untouched paradise
A sanctuary for nature and wildlife
Agami Island Nature Reserve is an ecological sanctuary located near the town of Katira de Guatuso, Costa Rica. This amazing 30 hectare property was purchased in 2025 as a conservation project for the unique habitat found here. The property is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, reptiles, and mammals.
The nesting colony of Agami Herons was discovered in May of 2025 by the owner of the property, Odir Rojas. The Agami Heron is a rare species of heron that is found in Central and South America, but is elusive and little is known about the species. The discovery of this rookery is a significant find for the conservation of this species.
Dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity of this unique ecosystem, Agami Island Nature Reserve serves as both a protected sanctuary and an educational resource. Our mission is to maintain the delicate balance of nature while providing visitors with unforgettable experiences in the heart of Costa Rica's wilderness.
